Winners impressions after Round 1, Monte Carlo

The curtain has already been drawn over the first round of the Season 2 DRS Sim Rally, Monte Carlo. A race that has demanded most of the competitors, but few have won the rally. Today we find out the impressions of the winners of round one.

Portuguese Miguel Nobrega on the second generation Ford Fiesta R5 won both OPEN and the R5 classes.

He said, “Feels good to be competing again, Rally Monaco is my least favourite rally, and I don't practise much, so I was very pleasently surprised with the result. I'm more of a gravel guy so monte-carlo really doesn't fit my driving style. Huge thanks to my team, AZR, for helping me with the strategies and setup and good luck to everyone for Rally USA".

Another Portuguese, Simao Pereira managed to win H2 Classics in a Fiat 131 Abarth.

So... First of all, a all new experience for me doing a championship in this type of car class and also using the manual gearbox with clutch, normally the championships that I compete are mainly in the R5 category. About the Rally Monte Carlo, it was a very difficult and defying rally and I was a bit lucky to win, I have made a lot of mistakes probably because of the lack of experience in this type of car, the tyre strategy was in theory the best (soft tyres in the first and third loop) but in the reality it doesn't work because the car in the snow and ice zones became too much dangerous and aggressive and it was on those loops that I have committed most of my errors. To finish, I have to say that I have enjoyed the rally a lot, I have finished every special with a smile on my face even the failed ones! Congratulations to the organisation, you have put on the road a really defying and fun rally, and a enormous congrats to all the participants especially for the crazy ones on the RWD class! Simply Amazing!!! A last word for my team mates of RS Motorsport, Jeejay (R5) and Toni Eduardo (R2), Good job guys! And also for all the Portuguese drivers and for the AZR Team, thumbs up for you, specially for Miguel Nóbrega!

The second event of the DRS Sim Rally it"s on full swing, with the stages in New England, USA being the main challenge of the drivers. The race ends on April 2.
